- " We have had this dream of creating fully custom Always True Jackets & just Fully custom Always True merchandise in general since the start in 2015. Within the past month, we made it happen, however, we did it by hand. @slayfinds approached us with around 6 pairs of vintage jeans. Some of those pairs of jeans were wrangler, Levis and Rude. We did not have the patterns we needed to create a jean jacket, so we measured out a jean jacket we had in the basement & took the patterns from the Jacket as they were & adjusted for some extra seam allowance. Patterns are the pieces of a garment that make up the garment like the pocket flap, collar, upper arm, etc. Seam allowance is the amount of fabric around the perimeter of the patterns that will be taken up by sewing the pieces together. So the mission was to create a jacket from scratch. All of these tasks, ones you do not know how to do, seem impossible at first, but if you take it step by step you can break it down to the basics and get it done (usually lol). So we took all those jeans that @slayfinds provided, cut them up and patched them together to make a completely from scratch/ one of a kind jean jacket made & designed in Gainesville, FL in a basement by @drewkhoward. There is something about up-cycling/ recycling that gets us excited. We love creating new clothes and it is fun, but repurposing already made clothing gives us more of a sense of purpose & fulfillment. We understand the implications of our industry on the environment and are trying to figure out ways to lessen the carbon footprint of our operation. Step by step... garment by garment. Thrifting, up-cycling & repurposing are the first steps, not sure what is next but we are always keeping Mother Earth in mind #unlitter. Not saying we are going to fully stop producing new clothes. We are just becoming more aware of what we are leaving behind/ how we can better the earth. We are working on it. It's all a working progress. This piece is called 60-QJ.
